Step-by-Step Guide
A complete visual walkthrough of sterile peptide reconstitution and subcutaneous administration — from preparation to safe disposal.

Gather Your Supplies
Lay out all supplies on a clean, disinfected surface before beginning. You will need: your peptide vial (with lyophilized powder), bacteriostatic (BAC) water, sterile insulin syringes, alcohol prep pads, and a sharps disposal container.
- Use a freshly cleaned, flat surface
- Ensure nothing is expired — check all dates
- Have everything within reach before starting

Put On Sterile Gloves
Thoroughly wash your hands with antibacterial soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Dry completely, then put on a fresh pair of nitrile or latex gloves. This is non-negotiable for sterile technique.
- Avoid touching anything non-sterile after gloving
- Use powder-free nitrile gloves for best results
- If a glove tears at any point, replace it immediately

Swab the Vial Stoppers
Use a fresh alcohol prep pad to thoroughly wipe the rubber stopper on top of the peptide vial using firm, circular motions. Repeat with a new swab on the BAC water vial. Allow both to air dry for a few seconds.
- Use a new alcohol swab for each vial
- Wipe in firm circular motions, not just a dab
- Let the alcohol evaporate before puncturing

Draw Bacteriostatic Water
Remove the cap from a new sterile insulin syringe. Insert the needle through the rubber stopper of the BAC water vial. Invert the vial and slowly pull back the plunger to draw the required amount of water for your specific product and desired concentration.
- Pull the plunger slowly and steadily
- Tap the syringe to release any air bubbles
- Refer to your product guide for exact water volumes

Inject Water Into the Peptide Vial
Insert the needle through the peptide vial stopper and angle it so the tip touches the inside glass wall. Slowly depress the plunger, allowing the BAC water to trickle down the side of the glass — never spray it directly onto the powder, as this can damage the peptide.
- CRITICAL: Aim water down the glass wall, not at the powder
- Depress the plunger very slowly and gently
- This is the most important step — take your time

Gently Swirl to Dissolve
Remove the syringe and gently swirl the vial between your fingertips using slow, circular motions. Continue swirling until the powder is completely dissolved and the solution is perfectly clear. This may take 1–3 minutes.
- NEVER shake the vial — shaking destroys peptide bonds
- Be patient — some peptides take longer to dissolve
- The solution must be completely clear before use

Draw Your Dose
Using a new sterile syringe, insert the needle into the reconstituted peptide vial. Invert the vial and slowly pull back the plunger to draw your prescribed dose. Tap the syringe to move any air bubbles to the top, then gently push the plunger to expel them.
- Always use a fresh syringe — never reuse
- Double-check your dose marking before proceeding
- Remove all visible air bubbles

Clean the Injection Site
Select your injection site — the lower abdomen (avoiding 2 inches around the navel) is the most common location. Clean the area thoroughly with a fresh alcohol prep pad using outward circular motions. Allow the area to air dry completely.
- Rotate injection sites to prevent tissue irritation
- The abdomen, thigh, or upper arm are suitable sites
- Let the alcohol dry fully — injecting into wet skin stings

Administer the Injection
Pinch a fold of skin at the cleaned injection site with your non-dominant hand. With your dominant hand, insert the needle at a 45-degree angle in one smooth, confident motion. Slowly and steadily depress the plunger to inject the full dose. Withdraw the needle at the same angle and apply gentle pressure with a cotton ball or clean swab.
- Insert at a 45° angle for subcutaneous delivery
- Inject slowly — rushing can cause discomfort
- Hold gentle pressure for 10–15 seconds after withdrawal

Dispose Safely
Immediately place the used syringe into your sharps disposal container. Never attempt to recap the needle, as this is the most common cause of accidental needlestick injuries. Dispose of all used alcohol swabs and gloves properly.
- NEVER recap a used needle
- Sharps containers should be sealed when ¾ full
- Follow local regulations for medical waste disposal
Key Reminders
Keep these critical points in mind every time.
Always maintain sterile technique throughout the entire process
Never shake the vial — gentle swirling only to preserve peptide integrity
Inject BAC water down the glass wall, never directly onto the powder
Insert needle at a 45° angle for proper subcutaneous delivery
Never recap used needles — dispose immediately in a sharps container
Store reconstituted peptides refrigerated (2–8°C) and use within 28 days
